History of Olympics starts from 776 B.C.when people used to give olive leaves crown as gift to winners of Olympics. From 1896 prizes in the form of medals started but they used to give silver medal to winners.After few days giving of  Gold medals to winners started.
                                  Composition of medals decreased drastically from Olympics to Olympics.Now in London Olympics the composition of medals is as follows

1.   Gold medal-   92.5% silver,1.34% gold,6.16%bronze
2.   Silver medal-  92.5%silver,7.5%bronze
3.   Bronze medal-97%bronze,2.5%zinc,0.5%tin
